New 2024 Kia Niro PHEV Interior, Redesign, Models – Here we have the 2024 Kia Niro PHEV, which completes the Korean manufacturer’s crossover lineup after the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. This 100% electric version of the Kia Niro is still family-friendly and versatile, but it’s undoubtedly the most fun to drive in its class, with 204 hp.
Although the Hyundai Ioniq beat it to market, the 2024 Kia Niro PHEV was one of the first hybrid cars available. Now, it’s a rechargeable hybrid that runs on 100% electric power. It’s also the only vehicle of its kind in the segment of family crossovers, which could be considered an advantage.
Features
With 395 Nm of torque from the start, the 2024 Kia Niro PHEV can go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.8 seconds, and the wheel mounts the cavalry well. However, it doesn’t lose too much speed or stability when cornering, even when experiencing torque effects.
Despite its family-friendly design, the Niro can still handle high speeds on small roads with ease, thanks to its responsive steering and powerful braking system. The only drawback is its weight, which slightly affects the vehicle’s agility. Overall, the Niro is a great car for families, and it fulfills its primary purpose perfectly.
Exterior and Interior
The 2024 Kia Niro PHEV electric power version comes with ambient lighting that features six customizable colors. The vehicle was designed from the ground up to incorporate the battery pack without compromising on the interior space and comfort that the hybrid versions offer.
The rear seats are spacious, providing 957 millimeters of roof clearance and 914 millimeters of legroom, which is crucial for an electric vehicle. Despite being eco-friendly, the seats still offer excellent comfort and luxury. Depending on the trim level, the 2024 Kia Niro PHEV features a 7- or 8-inch central touchscreen that includes connected services.
The navigation system is up to date and provided for seven years. However, the data system features that are specific to electric vehicles, such as charging station locations, energy consumption management, and range estimations, are less impressive compared to those offered by competitors. The storage compartments under the floor are not very practical, and the instrumentation is not customizable, although it features a 7-inch LCD monitor.
Specification
Similar to the Kona, the Niro’s electric drivetrain is composed of two electric battery packs, each connected to a powerful motor. The “small battery” has a capacity of 39.2 kWh and produces 136 horsepower, while the “big battery” has a capacity of 64 kWh and produces 204 hp.
Despite its less aggressive appearance compared to segment stars like the Peugeot 3008 and Volkswagen Tiguan, the Niro offers a unique driving experience. The Hyundai Kona Electric’s charm has also captivated us, and it’s no different with the Niro, even with its larger size and the e-Premium trim’s weight of nearly 1,800 kg.
On the highway at 130 km/h, the 2024 Kia Niro PHEV has an average consumption of 24 kWh/100 km, which translates to an autonomy of 266 km. For comparison, this is equivalent to 2.2 l/100 km of diesel, and it’s even more efficient without emissions.
